Tales Around the Fire promotes the oral traditions of story telling, singing and poetry in the magic ambience of firelight, natural acoustics and the keen ear of a supportive audience. We meet on the last Friday of every month at Fort Perch Rock, one of Merseyside’s iconic venues that offers a wonderful setting for a wide variety of community-based arts. In addition we also have special guest nights to enjoy the tales of wandering bards as they pass on their way. See Events for details.
Listening to tales in the firelight is an experience that nurtures the very roots of our humanity, and brings us into a living stream of tradition that springs from time immemorial. Add in a few songs, the scribblings of our poets, a themed quiz, and the banter of convivial company, and you’ll have a warm glow in your heart long after the fire has faded into the night.
Bring a tale, a song or a poem to share – or just sit back and enjoy – as we celebrate the seasons and festivals of the year, and whatever the flickering firelight inspires in the magic of the moment.
